Insurance Ratings

of Safes

Insurance ratings for safes vary based on their use and the security measures in place. For instance, a safe in a private home often qualifies for a higher rating than the same model in a commercial environment. Additionally, connecting the safe to a certified burglar alarm system can potentially double the insurance rating. It’s advisable to check with your insurance provider to ensure the appropriate level of coverage.

Tip: Look for certifications from recognized institutions like VdS, ECB-S and VSÖ to maximize acceptance with insurers. Avoid unfamiliar labels, commonly seen on budget safes, to prevent complications in case of a claim.

Insurance

Ratings

The insurance cover for safe contents varies depending on use and security precautions. Insurance providers differentiate between private and commercial usage. As a result, a safe in a private household can be insured for a higher amount than the same model in a commercial setting. If the safe is additionally secured by a certified burglar alarm system, the insured amount can be doubled.

*The listed, non-binding recommended insurance amounts apply to Austria and Germany.
Double the insurance amount applies to safes that are directly connected to a certified burglar alarm system.
Please note that not all series are CNPP-certified. Further details can be found on the respective model pages.
Resistance Units (RU) are measurement units according to EN 1143-1, which quantify the resistance of a safe against burglary attempts using mechanical and thermal tools.
