Only a certified safe can guarantee optimal protection against break-ins. With certification from renowned testing institutes such as VdS and ECB-S, you can securely store your valuables, as these certificates are recognized by all European insurance companies. Our safes undergo the strictest testing procedures and meet clearly defined security guidelines.
The resistance grade of a safe determines its resistance to break-in attempts using tools such as crowbars or cutting torches. The higher the security level, the longer it takes to breach. This duration is not stated in minutes but encoded in RUs “Resistance Units”. Generally, the rule of thumb is: the more valuable the contents of the safe, the higher the resistance grade should be.
Resistance Grades S1 and S2
Resistance Grades S1 and S2 introduce certified safes to private clients. They provide solid protection against mechanical impacts and light fires, making them ideal for furniture safes intended for private use and valued up to approximately EUR 2,500.
Resistance Grade 0
Safes tested in accordance with EN 1143-1 start with resistance grade 0. These safes offer tested burglary protection against mechanical and thermal tools. Resistance grade 0 offers solid basic protection for valuables up to approx. EUR 40,000 in the private sector.
Resistance Grade I
Grade I safes are among the best-selling safes. Although the time it takes to drill a hand-sized hole is comparable to a grade 0 safe, the higher security level in grade I offers significantly better protection against a complete break-in. This resistance grade is therefore insurable in the private sector up to around EUR 65,000.
Resistance Grades II – VKB
From resistance grade II, the time required for successful access increases significantly. From grade IV, it is also possible to protect the safe against additional methods of attack, such as our core drill protection. While grade II safes offer a resistance period of 80 RU, grade VKB safes can withstand an impressive 400 units, which guarantees considerably higher protection.
All Wertheim safes and valuables protection solutions are certified security products developed in-house with the highest burglary resistance. They are among the highest quality products in the industry and are tested and certified in accordance with the European standard EN1143-1 by numerous independent testing institutes.
Only certified safe deposit boxes and doors offer optimum protection and are insurable. This is how we guarantee that our products meet the highest security standards and offer you maximum protection.
Wertheim products have been tested against mechanical and thermal burglary tools in an independent test institute of VdS Schadenverhütung GmbH in Cologne. All our products passed the stringent test requirements of the CEN standard EN1143-1 and were certified accordingly in the respective defined resistance values. This means that containers can also be classified and operated in other European countries.
ECB-S is a globally recognized certification body for security products. The ECB-S label confirms the compliance of Wertheim products with European standards. The basis for ECB-S certification is a type test in accordance with the European standard EN1143-1 for products for protection against burglary.
The VSÖ is an independent association of companies and institutions that deal exclusively with security in all conceivable forms. Wertheim products are recognized by the VSÖ. This means that all valuables in a Wertheim secure storage unit can be insured in Austria in accordance with VSÖ guidelines.
A2P is the reference certification of the French inspection body CNPP, which guarantees the effectiveness of burglary protection.
The extent to which the contents of a safe can be insured depends on the context of its use and the security measures in place. Insurance providers differentiate between private and commercial usage. As a result, a safe in a private household can be insured for a higher amount than the same model in a commercial setting. If the safe is additionally secured by a certified burglar alarm system, the insured amount can be doubled.
*The listed, non-binding recommended insurance amounts apply to Austria and Germany.
Double the insurance amount applies to safes that are directly connected to a certified burglar alarm system.
Please note that not all series are CNPP-certified. Further details can be found on the respective model pages.
Resistance Units (RU) are measurement units according to EN 1143-1, which quantify the resistance of a safe against burglary attempts using mechanical and thermal tools.
